Our kindergarten has been offering IB since 2004, and is one of the first kindergartens in Shanghai to offer the IB program. At the same time, it is also combined with the Shanghai curriculum and the newly introduced Columbia University Reading Writing Project. Through collaboration between teachers and practice, we created our own curriculum featuring both international and local characteristics, aiming to cultivate children’s ability to learn bilingually which develop our students into “world citizens” with international mindedness.
During the visit, the open and bright environment of the school made the guests feel warm and welcome. The school facilities such as the art room, the library, the science corner, the bakery were well designed to provide a variety of learning environments. Activities also echoed to the learning themes of the IB curriculum, allowing children to explore and develop in an all-round way.
In the classroom, children were carrying out learning activity. Teachers carefully designed their lessons with fun games and well-planned strategies to ensure that every child had the opportunity to think independently and communicate with each other. All the guests were amazed by the children’s excellent bilingual skills and understanding ability.
